How to Add Tags

Updated October 6th, 2020

Urban Archive tags are words or phrases you can attach to stories. They let your readers know what your stories are about and connect them to related content on Urban Archive, which can amplify your story’s reach. Here are some examples in action:

  • A story might be tagged skyscraper, or music.

  • A story written for use in a classroom setting or other educational environment could be tagged education to link it with other educational materials.

  • A cross-organizational content campaign could be tagged for easy access. For example, NewYorkFromHome displays content created by museums while under COVID-19 lockdown.

How to Add Tags

You’ll need to be logged in to add tags to your stories. As you hover over any story created by you or your institution, you’ll see an edit icon appear.

Find your Tag

Once in edit mode, you’ll see a drop-down menu of tags you can add to your story.

Click any of these tags. Once you’re done adding tags, go ahead and click “save.”

Creating a new tag

If you don’t see your tag in the drop-down menu, click Create #tag

Click “save” to submit your tag. Since your tag is new, one of our team members will need to approve this tag.

Once approved, it will be visible to everyone on our platform.

By default, tags will appear at the end of your story, as shown at right.

Tags in Header

If your tag is part of a series or larger campaign, let us know!

We’ll assign it to appear next to “City Story” for maximum visibility.
